Thanksgiving 2021

Thanksgiving is not a traditional Latin American holiday but Vida’s seniors have adopted Thanksgiving as part of their traditional holiday celebrations. Vida’s staff coordinated, collected, and distributed generous donations from partners to the seniors to celebrate a hybrid Thanksgiving on November 24.

We laughed, enjoyed music and danced to lift the spirits, ensuring that seniors had what they needed to have a special dinner and celebration.

We closed our event with a time of reflection, with a moment of silence dedicated to those who have left us during the global crisis and raising our voices in thanks to those who are still here with us.

Thank you to the DC Department of Housing for providing a great dinner for our seniors, to the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, for supporting Vida with Thanksgiving meal bags, to Anita Bonds the At-Large member of the DC Council for donating turkeys, and many other supporters.

Dr. Jane Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health together with the NAHH staff gave 250 holiday gifts for Vida’s seniors. It’s a tradition that has been carried for over 34 years between both organizations.

Together we brought holiday cheer to seniors staying at home! Together we brought holiday cheer to seniors staying at home! The seniors greatly enjoyed the celebration and so did all of us.

We work closely with you and carry out research to understand your needs and wishes.
